Yellow and Green plantains are tropical fruits that look like large bananas but are starchy and not sweet and they cannot be eaten raw. When unripe, they are green to yellow, and when fully ripe, they turn black and soft.
Plantains are used in a variety of dishes across West African cuisines.
Ripeness Stages:
Unripe (Green): Difficult to peel, hard, and starchy. Ideal for boiling or frying.
Ripe (Yellow with Black Spots): Sweeter than unripe plantains.
Peeled plantains can be baked, boiled, fried, grilled, or steamed.
